The ED76-550 is an electric locomotive that was remodeled from the ED76-500 in 1989 as an extension of the ED79, and has a unique appearance with a white belt in red and gray.
In 1999, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the electrification of the Hakodate Main Line, red No. 2 was painted in one color, and then it was operated in one red color.
